“First we lose our attachment to life; at the same time we lose our fear of death. Finally, we feel peaceful and serene inside. Forgiving of all things, we enter a state where we hold things in gratitude.”

Dying and Death

Our one session seminar, called Dying and Death: a Buddhist Point of View, is scheduled on June 3, 2007.  This program uses the Buddhist book the Coffinman by Shinmon Aoki as vehicle to learn about, reflect and discuss the reality of dying and death, and the Inconceivable Light. This seminar will explore how to make sense of dying and death, and explore the experience of radiant vibrant life. The author draws inspiration from his Shin Buddhist faith and practice, offering rich reflections on the Sutra of Immeasurable Life and Light and Shinran Shonin’s Tannisho and the Kyogyoshinsho.

This seminar will be deeply personal, at times disturbing, yet offering an inspirational look into the death/life continuation.  This book and seminar will certainly alter

your view on dying and death: you may even begin to notice life even in death and experience effervescent luminosity everywhere. First homework assignment is due on the first class meeting.
